In 1898 Joseph F Pepper designed a solid brass ring sizing scale, under the brand of Wheatsheaf, to make sure all rings were made to the same size, every time. The Wheatsheaf trademark was developed to maintain an accurate scale of measurement across the UK jewellery industry and to this day each sizing set is checked by hand to guarantee accuracy.

These tapered ring sticks are marked with concentric, equidistant circles running the length of the stick - each of which symbolise a size and are indicated with letters A-Z + 6 (British sizes). Used in conjunction with ring sizers to measure the size of an individual's finger. The stick and sizers should complement one another; some are graduated slightly differently to others and so do not necessarily correspond.
