Made from precision designed steel, these drawplates feature round, square or oval holes in a variety of diameters. Used with a drawbench or secured in a vice on a work bench, the drawplates are commonly used for reducing the gauge of wire, making tube, or changing the cross-section of wire from one shape to another. They also have other uses such as making tube/chenier by slowly pulling a piece of sheet through gradually diminishing holes. In all cases the end being pulled through the drawplate will need to be shaped into a point so that sufficient metal is free on the opposite side to enable a good grip for the drawtongs. After approximately every other draw, the metal should be annealed to regain malleability.
