A caricature is the exaggeration of a particular flaw or feature of someone for comic effect. A caricature can be visual or a written description.
In the poem ‘Base Details’, Siegfried Sassoon highlights the flaws of the major at the base: ‘with his puffy petulant face’. This is an example of a caricature used in poetry.
