We use the term ‘home’ to describe the place where we live. For many of us, home is much more than a building or place. Home is the feeling of belonging that everyone craves. The people we love will often represent home to us.
Why study this theme?
The famous writer Maya Angelou said, ‘The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.’ One of our most basic needs is for a feeling of love and belonging. No matter what shape your home takes, the sense of belonging it gives is something to be prized. It is important to study this theme to gain an appreciation for the people and places we call home. In studying this theme we will also learn about the many different places people call home.
