Nowadays our lives are busy and we can become too wrapped up in technology and our smartphones to notice the beauty of the world around us. It is important that we take moments to appreciate our surroundings and to enjoy all of the beauty that this world has to offer.
Wonders happen every day in the world around us, yet we are often too preoccupied and busy to notice them. The following social experiment, conducted by the Washington Post Magazine, explores people’s perceptions, taste and priorities.
A social experiment on perception and appreciation
Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world, played six pieces of music by famous composer Bach for 45 minutes in the metro station. During those 45 minutes, it is estimated that 1,100 people walked through the station. People scurried past on their way to work. The person who paid most attention to the violinist was a three-year-old boy.
