WELCOME TO OUR AIRLINE SURVEY 2016, an annual snapshot of some of the major carriers and their onboard product. The facts, figures and illustrations are all from the more comprehensive supplement published with our sister magazine, Business Traveller. This supplement, which appears each November, is, in turn, a selection of the hundreds of airlines we have on our website, seatplans.com. Also included on that website are user reviews posted by the millions of visitors to seatplans.com, who have found the information invaluable since its launch several years ago. Those reviews invite readers to assign a mark for their flight – not just in terms of the seat, but for everything from the departing airport and the lounges (if used) to the in-flight entertainment, food and wine, and the seat for both sitting and sleeping. Out of those marks we come to an average score for that class

on that type of aircraft for that airline, and, in turn, it allows us to assign marks for each class on an airline, as well as the airline overall, and also to rank the airlines accordingly. If, when looking through these pages, you find that one of your regular airlines is not included, or perhaps you are looking for some short-haul details where we have had space only to include an airline’s long-haul fleet, do please visit seatplans.com, or even put it on your company’s intranet page, so your travellers can look there instead of asking you which seat on the aircraft has the most legroom. The data here has been supplied by the airlines and then checked by ourselves. If you spot a mistake, let us know, and we will correct it online on seatplans.com. For the most up-to-date information, also head to the website – but in the meantime, we hope there is plenty here that you find useful.
