PAUL REES Founder, Practical Marketing Academy

So what does good look like in the marketing planning process?

It should be a holistic approach that starts with diagnosis, is guided by a solid strategy, and culminates in execution. Firstly, marketers should start with Diagnosis – an analysis of your current business situation. You recognise what’s working and what’s not, which helps you make informed decisions.

Next is the Strategy stage where you define your target audience, proposition, objectives, messaging, channels, and tactics. It’s the foundation upon which your execution is built. Te third part is Execution - where your plans come to fruition. However, without a robust diagnosis and strategy, execution can be like throwing darts blindfolded.

Which leads us to the Practical Marketing Academy. Paul - what have you put together - who’s the target audience and when does everything go live?

I developed the Practical Marketing Academy alongside my marketing consultancy services because I’m passionate about supporting marketers in improving their skills and confidence, and helping them demonstrate the real impact that marketing can have on business success.

Te online course is aimed at junior marketers and those with no formal marketing training, to help them gain skills in shaping

marketing strategy and plans, beyond just marketing tactics. I recognise that many marketers in our industry are very busy juggling lots of activities, so I have made the course succinct, with 5 modules covering areas such as customer targeting, proposition development, messaging, and marketing plans.

In my experience, many marketing training courses tend to be theoretical and adopt a ‘tell’ approach, lacking practical application. Te Marketing Strategy Planning & Implementation course, however, is highly practical, featuring a step-by-step approach and including downloadable, editable templates to help participants create effective marketing strategies and plans for their businesses.

Te course will also help participants demonstrate to their businesses how their plans are aligned to customer needs, how their objectives will help deliver on business aims, and to justify marketing activities and spend. So, the course will not only benefit marketers and build their skills and confidence, but also their businesses. Te course is now live and if anyone wishes to sign-up or find out more, they can visit the link below.
