into the players’ homes. Players can sit down, relax, log in live to Las Vegas, where they can see the gaming floor, hear the sounds, see the chips on the table, join the actual game, play it and then go back to their lives. Tis is something that the players have been looking for and I’m sure this will be the first of many ventures.”
Mr Stuart explained that expansion of the MGM Live product has been immediate. “We launched with five tables from the floor of the Bellagio, which we felt was one of the most iconic places in Las Vegas, but we’re adding to this by building a studio at MGM Grand, offering an additional ten tables which will go live next year,” he explained. “Te studio really will provide an elevated gaming experience where we can offer some of the Las Vegas glamour with celebrities hosting game shows.”
Te Bellagio and MGM Grand aren’t the only jewels in MGM’s glittering crown. Te Cosmopolitan, New York New York, Luxor and Excalibur are just some of the brands that roll off the tongue of anyone who has visited the gambling capital of the world with each providing a different flavour of the famed Las Vegas Strip. With online gaming not yet regulated in Las Vegas and the roll-out of iGaming stateside being piecemeal, on a state-by-state basis, the decision was made to launch an international product but with future regulation and new licencing, the partnership hasn’t ruled out more casinos
being added to the MGM Live lobby.
Mr Stuart explained: “In MGM Grand and the Bellagio, we’ve launched with two very iconic properties, one more mainstream, but steeped in Las Vegas history, and the other a real luxury property. We feel that’s a good mix for now but that’s not to say we won’t add more properties over time if the market asks for it or if regulations change. When you’re looking at whether a US product will sell globally, the language may need to be tailored, or the product may need to be tweaked but Las Vegas is a global brand that cuts through any gambling market. Our vision is for any operator in any regulated market to be able to play our games and this is really where working with Playtech can deliver for us.”
Te answer prompted a further question from the floor, could the MGM Live lobby one day be extended to offer live gaming from some of MGM’s international casino resorts such as streaming from tables in MGM Macao or MGM Cotai to online, Chinese players in the UK?
Mr. Akad answered: “Whilst the technology would allow this, and the players would undoubtedly like it, there would be regulatory and licensing hurdles to overcome. Tis really is just the beginning of the journey though. Tere is so much that we can do in terms of bringing even more fun to the mix.”
