Playtech and MGM What happens in Vegas...
...doesn’t necessarily have to stay in Vegas anymore with a ground-breaking
partnership between Playtech and MGM Resorts International looking to take live table gaming from Vegas to anywhere in the regulated gaming world.
Having launched an industry first in June, Playtech and MGM Resorts International were at SBC Lisbon hosting a press conference to provide a little more flavour on their strategic partnership which sees the MGM Live product streamed directly from two of Las Vegas’ most iconic Strip properties to regulated markets worldwide, outside of the United States.
Te live casino offering, which has been immediately snapped up by Bet365 in the UK and Caliente in Mexico, launched with single and double-zero roulette and baccarat games broadcast live from the casino floors at MGM Grand and Bellagio Resort & Casino. But this is just the start with the plan to broaden the portfolio with branded TV game shows and celebrity-hosted trivia shows.
Christian Stuart, SVP, Head of Interactive at MGM, explained that with the Bellagio fountains and the golden MGM Lion being two of the most quintessential symbols of Las Vegas, these two properties provided the best USP’s to appeal to the global market.
"We’ve been looking at the live dealer space for a long time. It’s a large industry which accounts for 20 to 30 per cent of operator revenue," he explained. “We spent a lot of time trying to find our footing in the live space and after a lot of searching around, we landed on Las Vegas as being our most distinctive feature. We have a very

large footprint in Las Vegas with billion-dollar assets but so far, those assets have only been used in person, so people have to travel to Las Vegas to see and experience them.
“ Now what we're doing with the partnership with Playtech is bringing that online experience to the global, regulated, online market. People can now play live, from their homes, and experience the excitement and energy of gambling in Las Vegas, online. We started out with a concept called DualPlay where we now have cameras at the Bellagio and MGM Grand tables and we're streaming that to new markets, allowing people to play in Las Vegas on whatever night they choose."
Shimon Akad, Chief Operating Officer at Playtech, added: "At Playtech we are always looking at the next big, innovative thing that the industry is going to embrace. We work at the pinnacle of the entertainment sector, we work in showbiz, and we want to provide customer experiences that have never been seen before with the aim of bringing a better level of entertainment for the player.
“We take a lot of pride that MGM, the most iconic operator from Las Vegas and the world, has chosen to partner with Playtech to be their trusted technology provider to bring some of the spark of Las Vegas, some of that magical experience from their gaming floors, directly
