Bally’s joins New York Bidding Race
US - Empire City New York adds 1,000 slots Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts has added more than 1,000 new games to its gaming floor, making it the sixth largest casino floor in the country and the largest in the MGM Resorts portfolio.
The upgrade delivers a new experience for guests offering the most recently released titles in gaming, and replaces almost 20 per cent of the nearly 5,000 slots and electronic table games.
The additions include gaming titles being enjoyed in casinos across the globe, including Light & Wonder’s 88 Fortunes Money Coins and Dancing Drums Explosion, Konami Gaming’s Ba Fang Jin Bao and Aristocrat’s Mighty Cash Double Up.
Empire City expressed a desire to improve the experience for its nine million annual guests by replacing outdated and underperforming games with the newest titles available in the industry. Recent changes by the New York State Gaming Association permitted Empire City to source games from a larger number of vendors than has historically been possible, allowing titles from Aristocrat Gaming, Konami and Alfastreet.
Pennsylvania - Aruze gets iGaming approval Aruze Gaming Europe has received approval from the Bureau of Gaming Operations for its iGaming solutions within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, marking the first state outside of New Jersey that has approved Aruze for iGaming operation. The company has said it will continue to roll out new titles in 2023 and beyond.
“This approval is the next step in our overall business plan to bring the fun of the casino experience to anyone, any time,” said Kurt Hansen, Vice President of iGaming at Aruze. “Not everyone who loves gambling has the luxury of a casino being down the street from them, and that’s where we come in.
“While players will still travel to search out the lights and sounds of the casino floor, Pennsylvanians will now also have the option of playing right at home.”
Nevada - Zeims joins AGS PlayAGS has announced that Robert Ziems will join the company as Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately. Robert brings over 24 years of gaming and legal experience to AGS
and will lead the company’s legal and compliance affairs and oversee the Latin America and Interactive business strategy. Robert joins AGS from Aruze Gaming America, where he served for over 12 years.
Most recently he served as President of Aruze, Global Chief Legal Officer of Aruze Gaming Group, and Corporate Secretary.

Bally’s has joined the race for one New York’s casino licences that would bring betting to Te Bronx, whilst Caesars says it won’t get involved in an ‘arms race.’
Bally’s has joined the race for one of three New York casino licences with a blueprint to bring betting to Te Bronx, with the proposal of building a casino resort next to the Trump Organisation’s public golf course at Ferry Point.
It believes it would need 17 of the 300 acres at the location to develop a casino. Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, the sons of former US President Donald Trump have a 20-year contract with the Parks Department to operate the land as a golf course.
Bally’s plan would create over 15,000 construction jobs and more than 3,500 permanent jobs. Bally’s stated: “We are incredibly excited at the prospect of bringing Bally’s community centred approach to gaming and entertainment to Te Bronx. At Bally’s, we start with the proposition that the leaders in the community know what is best for their community.”

Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Interactive division, has received an Online Gaming Service Provider licence from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection as the supplier continues to broaden its reach in the US market.
Greentube is now primed to enter new partnerships with operators in the Constitution State, where online sports betting and casino have been operational since October 2021. Tis latest licence is Greentube’s third in the US, having entered the market in both New Jersey and Michigan.

Meanwhile, Caesars states it won’t get involved in a bidding war for New York casino licence. Te operator said it won’t get involved in an ‘arm’s race’ if the race to win the rights to develop a casino in New York comes down to who will spend the most money. CEO Tom Reeg said: “We believe we have the project that will open the quickest and will start paying New York taxes the quickest and an area that doesn’t need zoning approval.”
Pennsylvania PENN closes $388m Barstool Sports acquisition
PENN Entertainment has completed the acquisition of Barstool Sports. After previously acquiring a 36 per cent stake of Barstool Sports in February 2020, the operator has acquired the remaining interest in Barstool Sports for approximately $388m.
Te closing of the acquisition marks a major milestone for Barstool Sports as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2003 as a free sports and gambling newspaper by Dave Portnoy, Barstool has evolved into a leading digital player in sports, lifestyle, and entertainment.
