Cashless gaming has been an incredibly popular topic. Has it ‘gone off the boil’ at all?
Definitely not! Operators’ willingness to adopt the technology and players’ demand for it remains high. The efficiencies the technology provides in respect of not only day-to-day operational cost savings, but also ad-hoc and routine maintenance costs are self-evident; add to that the business intelligence (BI) garnered as a result thereof, and how beneficial that is in informing management decisions and driving strategy, and operators have every reason to continue to pursue the implementation of the solution.
What I believe the pandemic has
done though is expedite the transition to cashless in some jurisdictions, as well as place it higher up on the ‘to do’ list. The land-based sector has been severely affected following the implementation of various lockdown levels the world over on more than one occasion.
How has this impacted DRGT and your customers’ operations?
We were, and we remain, almost debt-free; an extremely fortunate position to have been in during this crisis. That said, times were tough for both us and our customers, but it forced us all to look at things differently, and to search for new or alternate ways of doing those things, and some new things too.
Cashless and the business intelligence data it provides, drove many operational decisions over the last 24-odd months. Operational efficiencies became integral, not to growth, but in many cases to sustainability. The more operators could and did learn about their players, based on past and present behaviour, the better equipped they were at delivering the best possible player experience when they were open. We are all being forced to ‘box a lot smarter’, and the BI cashless provides allows us to do that from
an extremely informed position.
If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.
Exactly, and the effects of any changes operators make to their overall player experience, whether that be in respect of the games themselves, player rewards, bonusing, jackpots or anything else, are monitored and measured in real time, and as such can be augmented and tweaked ‘on the fly’ as frequently or as infrequently as deemed necessary.
