Is the roadmap then tweaked regularly?


During development, things might change which can affect the timeline and its dates. We try not to tweak the roadmap if it’s not really needed but sometimes, we need to shift around games to meet expectations. Unexpected changes are a big part of our job, and we always try to do our best to deliver on time. Tis is also the fun part of the job, that sometimes we must juggle around projects to keep the roadmap consistent and also work with Blueprint’s roadmap and release schedule.


Is the roadmap perceived by the creative team as fixed into place, or something that is malleable and subject to change?


Te creative team decides which games we want to do and in what order we should do them, then we put this together in the roadmap which can change by time, but we strive to keep the plan we had from start when it makes sense. If the market changes, we change with it.


With a roadmap in place, how are games then conceptualised? Who is at the table offering input?


With a budget approved, what is the process for creating a games roadmap from sketched- out vision through to sign-off?


We look at our data, the markets we want to grow in, speak to our customers and we gather insights into what players want in those markets. We look at our capacity and then we put together a list of games we want to make, which types, themes, mechanics and start building out a list of games we think would work and what we could do a great job of. Tis slowly turns into a roadmap as we get into it.


Art direction is part of my role, and I must be part of most design decisions together with our design team in-house. Every Game Designer is


responsible for their games and the timeline given from the studio. So, in the end we really help each other in any


way possible to make sure all games are done the way we want.


A game is usually already conceptualised when it goes into the roadmap, but not always, then we start the real work with the mathematician and the artists will start creating concepts from the brief we provided. As a Game Designer you always have final say when it comes to both maths and design but as we are such a small team, we often sit down and discuss each other’s games to get feedback and input to make it better.


Concept in place, what is your role in art direction and ensuring game design is on schedule?


Art direction is part of my role, and I must be part of most design decisions together with our design team in-house. Every Game Designer is responsible for their games and the timeline given from the studio. So, in the end we really help each other in any way possible to make sure all games are done the way we want. Of course, our project manager is also there to help us meet the deadlines that were created for the roadmap.
