MEET THE DEVELOPER LUCKSOME GAMING
Meet the Developer Lucksome Gaming
Lucksome, a new games studio powered by Blueprint Gaming, recently launched its fourth slot, Way of the Tiger. Josefin Uppeke, Head of Creative and Game Designer at Lucksome, details the process through which a game idea germinates into a slot capable of making a splash on casino lobbies.
Josefin explains how careful co-ordination ensures art, games design and math models marries up with a thorough and well-considered content roadmap.
Josefin, how did you become involved in the gaming industry?
From an early stage I had many friends working in the gaming industry so in the very beginning I went to lots of affiliate conferences and met people from all over the world. Ten I started working as an affiliate myself seven years ago and I wrote posts on my own website about games, casinos, and bonuses. I played loads of games during a short period of time, and this really kicked off my interest in games in general. I was always interested in tv and computer games, but this really made me more interested in slots and how they work. Since then, I’ve worked hard to learn as much as possible on the way which has put me in the role I now have at Lucksome.
After stints as a Game Producer at Yggdrasil and Game Product Owner at NetEnt, what enticed you to take on the challenge of a new games studio?

Josefin Uppeke, Head of Creative and Game Designer, Lucksome
Both Yggdrasil and NetEnt were great places to work and created the foundation for me and my knowledge. When Lucksome came up as a new adventure, I felt it was time to move to something more challenging. In a smaller setup like Lucksome, you will play a bigger part and be part of every step of the way. I felt it was a good opportunity for me to become better at what I do and widen my knowledge.
What is the relationship between Lucksome and Blueprint?
Essentially, we are two different brands. We have different goals with our games as, in a general sense we are focusing on different markets. We use Blueprint’s distribution, and tech stack, and we coordinate with them on strategy and roadmaps. Our marketing and sales are also handled by Blueprint, so we are working very closely with them every day.
What level of creative autonomy does Lucksome have?
We have as full autonomy on creative as much as any studio has. Ultimately freedom is somewhat of an illusion; we may dream up the wildest ideas, but we still would need technology, customers, and players to be aligned to make it work. Tat is something that every studio who favours innovation must juggle, risk of the unknown versus something tried and tested. However, this juggle is why we love our jobs!
