Advantech exhibited at G2E 2023 in Las Vegas - what were your impressions of the show and of the US market in general?
G2E 2023 was a remarkable event for us, as we witnessed a strong recovery and resurgence of the gaming industry in the US and beyond. We were delighted to meet many new and existing customers who showed great interest and enthusiasm for our products and solutions. We also appreciated the opportunity to showcase our latest innovations and demonstrate our leadership in the gaming technology sector.
Te US market is very dynamic and diverse, with many small and medium sized companies competing with the big players. Te attendance and engagements we witnessed at G2E just proves yet again how resilient the gaming market is, in the US and globally.
At the show Advantech launched two new DPX platforms, the DPX S455 and DPX M266. What's the background to the launch of these two platforms? What problems are they solving for your customers?
Te DPX-S455 and the DPX-M266 are the result of our continuous research and development efforts, as well as our close collaboration with
Te DPX-S455 is the latest addition to our popular S-series, originally launched in 2006. Tis typical highly flexible all-in-one gaming platform, based on Intel 12/13th Generation Core technology, offers a full feature set in terms of specific functionality for gaming machines, such as NVRAM, intrusion detection and logging, security, digital I/O, field removable BIOS, and a large number of USB and serial ports. It’s supported by a very transparent and proven BSP and SDK. Te platform is GLI 11 compliant and will get you through most stringent homologations around the world. Quick and easy.
Te DPX-M266, based on the high-performance AMD Ryzen Embedded R2000 processors is the latest in our multi-media series where we take a different approach; a main board with basic PC and gaming functionality to be enhanced by customised I/O modules attached via a sturdy expansion bus.
Tis set-up allows cost saving configurations where less gaming features are required, but offer at the same time the option to expand the features by adding another I/O module for different applications. I/O modules that we can design and make or by the customers themselves.
Te DPX S455 and DPX M266 belong to Advantech’s S-Series and M-Series family of platforms, respectively. How does each build on previous generations, and who do they specifically target as end users?
Our DPX products have a long history of success in the gaming industry, as mentioned, dating back to 2006 when we launched the first S- series board. Since then, we have been updating these series regularly, following the roadmaps of key chipset manufacturers, while maintaining backward compatibility and consistency in our designs.
Tis shows our commitment to our customers, as we help them reduce their development time and costs and ensure their long-term investment protection. If nothing else, this shows our 100 per cent commitment to our customers in making their work easier with consistency in our developments. Te same applies to the M-series.
New generations with the same physical set-up already occupy our roadmap ensuring a one- time development phase for the customer allowing focus on other areas of R&D without having to cope with the technical aspects of gaming requirements. As alluded to in our marketing, our customers can focus on content and engagements leaving the rest to us.
What was the response to the launches at G2E? Were conversations primarily with existing or potential new customers?
