Maine Launches Mobile Sports Betting
After a cautious route to market, Maine’s mobile sports betting market is finally live with retail set to follow at a later date.
Te four tribes of the region own the exclusive online betting rights. Tree have teamed up with Caesars, whilst the other is working with DraftKings.

KENTUCKY - Ainsworth Game Technology has successfully installed its Historical Horse Racing System and terminals at Sandy’s Racing and Gaming in Ashland, Kentucky, including the A-STAR Curve, A-STAR Curve XL, A-STAR Dual Screen and A-STAR Slant cabinets.
The newly opened property features 675 Historical Horse Racing terminals, with nearly 60 percent of those connected to Ainsworth’s HHR System. Additionally, the newly opened property includes 70 Ainsworth terminals featuring titles such as the top performing San Bao Pandas and Dragons.
NEW MEXICO – BetMGM has opened a new retail sportsbook at Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, marking the operator's sports betting launch in New Mexico. The BetMGM Sportsbook at Isleta is 4,900 square feet and features 35 television screens, along with two VIP sections. The sportsbook also includes five betting windows and four betting kiosks.

NEVADA – Light & Wonder has delivered ten consecutive quarters of consolidated revenue growth after recording a 13 per cent increase year- over-year in its latest results. Light & Wonder’s gaming revenue increased to $465m in the quarter, up 11 per cent compared to the prior year period, primarily driven by robust gaming machine sales growth of 23 per cent in North America and international markets alongside continued momentum in gaming operations and table products.
SciPlay achieved another record revenue of $196m, a 15 per cent increase from the prior year period, driven by the core social casino business, maintaining strong payer metrics and once again outpacing the market and gaining share.iGaming revenue increased 21 per cent, reflecting continued growth momentum in the U.S. and international markets.
OKLAHOMA – Osage Casinos has opened its latest casino in Bartlesville; Osage Casino & Hotel Bartlesville, marking its second casino opening in 2023. The casino covers 153,151 square feet with 521 slots, a 6,000-square-foot meeting space, and 102 hotel rooms. Construction commenced over two years ago but was delayed by COVID.
Osage Casino and Hotel recently opened in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, with 47 hotel rooms, a full- service restaurant, 259 slot machines, and over 3,000 square feet of event space.

Almost 15 months after it was legalised, November saw mobile sports betting go live in Maine. With retail betting set to join at a later date, the four tribes in the region, the Aroostook Band of Micmacs, the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, and the Penobscot Nation, and the Passamaquoddy Tribe, will own the exclusive rights for all online betting. Te first three tribes have teamed up with Caesars Sportsbook, whilst the fourth tribe, Passamaquoddy, will work with DraftKings.
John Holden, a professor at Oklahoma State University, said to the Portland Press Herald: “Maine certainly took, let’s say a cautious route to launch. I think the market has certainly developed nationally around them. Tat’s probably kudos to Maine’s regulators that they are being cautious, they aren’t taking pressure from the industry."
Caesars flagship sports wagering platform, Caesars Sportsbook, is already accepting sports wagers on mobile and desktop in the Pine Tree State through its historic partnership with three of the Wabanaki Nations: the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Mi’kmaq Nation and the
Penobscot Nation, furthering Caesars’ longtime commitment to supporting Indian gaming.

Retail sports betting will be offered at off-track betting facilities and commercial racetracks as well as the two casinos in the state; Oxford Casino & Hotel and Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway Bangor.
In total, there will be 10 retail licences offered by the state. Churchill Downs Incorporated owns the Oxford Casino, while PENN Entertainment operates the Hollywood Casino. Pioneer Gaming, which operates Favorites Off-Track Betting facilities in Waterville and Sanford, is partnering with BetMGM for retail betting, but not mobile.
Nevada GLPI lauds decision to bring A’s to Las Vegas
Gaming and Leisure Properties has applauded the announcement by Major League Baseball (MLB) that the league’s owners have approved the move of Athletics (A’s) franchise to Las Vegas.
Te stadium will complement a casino resort redevelopment envisioned at GLPI’s 35-acre property in Clark County, Nevada, owned indirectly by GLPI through its indirect subsidiary Tropicana Land LLC, a Nevada limited liability company, and leased by GLPI to Bally’s.
In May, GLPI and Oakland Athletics, entered into a binding letter of intent setting forth the terms for developing a Las Vegas stadium that would serve as the home venue for the A’s.

Bally’s Corporation generated record company-wide revenue of $632.5m, an increase of 9.4 per cent year-over-year for the third quarter. Tis included record casinos & resorts revenue of $359m, up 9.3 per cent year-over-year and international Interactive revenue of $243.9m, up 7.2 per cent year-over-year, driven by a 13.1 per cent increase in the UK as market share gains continue.
Te company successfully opened the Chicago Temporary Casino in September and announced a deal to operate the concession at Bally’s Golf Links, a golf course at Ferry Point in the Bronx, New York.
Bally’s had a consolidated net loss in the quarter of $61.8m and generated Adjusted EBITDAR of $173.2m and Adjusted EBITDA of $141.6m. For the nine-month period net income was $90.9m.
