WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA —Heraeus is now taking applica- tions for a new startup accelera- tor program. The company is looking for new ideas and tech- nologies for the semiconductor market as well as for the pre- cious metals sector Precious metals have be come
an indispensable part of everyday life due to their unique properties. Due to their corrosion resistance and good electrical and thermal conductivity, precious metals are used in a wide range of industries and products. For its Accelerator
Program 2021, Heraeus is looking for startups that develop innova- tive solutions for new materials, production processes and recycling of precious metals or research solutions and products for cata- lysts, the hydrogen economy and surface treatment. Today’s electronic devices
must deliver more functionality with more computing power and higher speed. Module complexity is increasing while devices are getting smaller. The Heraeus Accelerator was launched in 2019 and offers
startups the opportunity to fur- ther develop and market their ideas and products with Heraeus. For this purpose, the startups have access to research laboratories, test equipment and the extensive customer and part- ner network of Heraeus. Contact: Heraeus, Inc.,

Evolution of Battery

ed and utilizing Bosch con- veyance solutions or others, even longer batteries can be tested. But the real power of the
Pilot BT is its speed and reliabil- ity. With built-in parallel testing capabilities, the Pilot BT can perform 4-wire kelvin testing of up to 16 battery cells at once with a beat rate of up to 2,400 cells per minute. Seica’s test engine utilizes a 200 MHz digital signal processor for extremely fast test acquisition times with data processing through a 1 Gb Ethernet connection. Flying
probe fixtures
mounted on each robotic head can be reconfigured easily by operators to test different bat- tery configurations during shift changes within a few minutes. Built-in system diagnostics and calibrations make the system highly reliable ensuring a tremendous uptime and a very high OEE. The Pilot BT can be easily
integrated by third party automa- tion solution providers in their automated lines. While Bosch con- veyance is used in the standard solution, other conveyances can be employed to allow for product test- ing of not only cylindrical batter- ies, but prismatic and pouch bat- teries, as well. The Seica battery test line
also allows for high-volume test- ing of battery anodes and cath- odes whether in sheet form and palletized or in roll form in its reel-to-reel
flex system. All
Seica’s battery testers can be connected to customers’ compa- nywide MES systems through a proprietary software adapter. This delivers a seamless

production floor integration process enabling all data to be sent to all departments where the digital factory is deployed. And finally, hardware and soft- ware options for this line also include a noninvasive control unit that monitors the system’s energy consumption, vibration, and temperature. The benefit of these features is to provide pre- dictive monitoring of events on the production floor, affording customer personnel the opportu- nity to be proactive in floor main- tenance procedures.
