Modern Alchemy: Plasma Transforms Plastic Parts

bic or hydrophilic. Like PVA TePla, some
providers provide access to onsite research and development equipment and engineering expertise. For injection molders that may be doing various work for different manufacturers in a range of industries, like a con- tract shop, purchasing a plasma treatment system is flexible and not just specific to one part. However, for those who
want plasma-treated parts or components without investing in in-house equipment, the solution is to utilize a contract processor. With this approach, the parts are 8 shipped, treated, and returned within a mutually agreed time-
frame. For small or infrequent batches, this can significantly lower the price per part. Working with a contract
processor has advantages in tap- ping into the years of technical expertise applying various plas- ma treatments; this can often speed R&D efforts. As applica- tions and production volumes continue to evolve, collaborating with a partner with deep plasma treatment expertise can provide a quicker time to market for a customer’s product. Battery Development: Saving Today’s Energy...
Continued from previous page
battery development and manu- facturing are beginning to onshore their once disparate operations. For example, GM and LG are establishing new production plants in the United States, and SK Innovation is building a sec- ond electric vehicle plant in the country as well. After years of neglect, U.S.
production capacity, including supply chain management, is becoming more capable of meet- ing the battery-driven technolog- ical demand. This is a transfor- mational time for batteries as new technologies and opera- tional realities drive changes and improvements.
To be sure, these solutions
will require ongoing testing, refinement, and implementation, but it is clear that battery technol- ogy is being reshaped in real time. Small, better, and safer bat-
teries capable of fast charging will redefine how consumers work, play, and travel. When paired with enhanced, more affordable grid storage and greater U.S.- based production capacity, companies can deliver the product experience that con- sumers deserve. Contact: Energy Assurance,
