Newark, CA — SMART Embedded Computing has introduced a new PCI Express (PCIe) card for voice-over-5g and LTE (Vo5G/LTE) applications. This media processing accelerator add-in card enables high-density voice processing to be inte- grated into rack-mounted servers or other network appliances that have PCIe slots. It is designed to make the deployment of the Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) codec, which is in demand for 5G and LTE networks, more cost-effective by signifi- cantly increasing channel density. The PCIe-8130 uses the latest generation of
highly efficient digital signal processors (DSPs) from Octasic to provide direct offload of the host CPU, eliminating the need for additional servers when adding high-density audio transcoding to an application.
Network equipment providers can either add
or substantially increase the voice channel density within existing systems, reducing overall power and space demands for their equipment as it scales
to higher throughput. Multiple cards can be added to scale capacity as the subscriber base grows. The card can be deployed as a centralized cloud solu- tion or in central offices at the edge of a network. The EVS codec is designed to support high
quality and efficiency. Unlike its predecessor, AMR, which was used for initial VoLTE deployments and marketed as “HD voice,” EVS was developed and optimized specifically for LTE. EVS is a feature-rich codec that supports everything from narrow band (NB) to super wideband (SWB) with bit rates start- ing at 5.9 kb/s up to 128 kb/s, as well as a multitude

Tustin, CA — Intepro Systems has introduced its PSB 10000 30 kW pro- grammable digital power supply/ load. The PSB 10000 series is a microprocessor-controlled bidirec- tional supply that combines two devices in one — an electronic DC load with energy recovery and an auto-ranging DC power supply. This allows for two-quadrant
operation in an efficient and easy-to- use instrument. Combining the fea- tures of a programmable source and regenerative programmable load into one chassis frees up rack space and reduces generated heat, while recov- ering loaded energy back to the grid.

The device includes a wide range of programmable functions to simulate complex testing, such as electric vehicle load profiles, battery charg- ing, PV simulation per EN 50530, and MPP tracking. Multiple PSB 10000 units can
be operated in a master-slave config- uration to provide source/load capa-
