20 Industries First Pre-cleaned Chromatography Vials

Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc introduced the new National Scientific Mass Spec Certified Vials, which are cleaned and tested as standard. These low- particulate chromatography vials are cleaned in a GMP compliant, fully validated clean room environment to minimise the occurrence of any contamination. Each lot is tested for particle counts, as well as LC/MS and GC/MS background to provide a consistently high performance from every vial. In addition, the packaging is also pre-cleaned to ensure product integrity, making National Scientific Mass Spec Certified Vials ideal for a wide range of highly sensitive chromatography applications.

Manufactured from inert, pure and chemically stable glass, the Mass Spec Certified Vials are produced under strict quality control protocols for uniformity. Each vial undergoes the in-process verification of 13 critical physical characteristics, thus ensuring a reproducible performance is obtained with every use. After each vial has been processed and tested, it is immediately packaged into pre-cleaned, inert vial trays. Ultra-high purity bonded PTFE/silicone closures are packaged in airtight, re-sealable containers to further reduce the possibility of contamination.

As a result of the increased use of fine porosity HPLC columns and GC techniques requiring direct on-column injection, National Scientific Mass Spec Certified Vials provide an unrivalled level of purity.

Cut the Cost of Qualification

NLG Analytical has announced the release of its latest v-kit qualification system for LCMS systems, suitable for single and triple quad MS.

Neil Gowans, NLG Analytical’s MD explained: “It’s not unusual to find one manufacturer supplying the HPLC front end and another the MS. Using v-kit the individual components of the system receive an OQ then the whole system is PQ’d. Validating using the new v-kit-LCMS allows for a common, system-wide approach and a harmonised and consistent qualification across all LCMS systems.

Jenway’s 67 series spectrophotometers offer high quality split- beam optics and a cutting-edge user interface for fast, intuitive operation. Excellent data portability and secure multi-user operation add to the versatility of these advanced instruments.

Featuring sealed split beam optics, the 67s deliver more accurate measurements than single beam instruments, while being more affordable than double beam spectrophotometers. The sensitive yet durable touch screen and colour display, together with sealed touch-sensitive QWheel™ for fine cursor control, make for a highly flexible, easy-to-use interface.

Both the 6705 and 6715 cover the wavelength range from 190nm to 1100nm using a pulsed xenon light source, with the 6715 providing an ultra narrow bandwidth of 1.5nm. Available modes include photometrics, spectrum scanning, multi-wavelength analysis, kinetics and quantitation, giving direct concentration results against single or multi-point calibrations. Extensive post- measurement tools enable results to be presented exactly to each user’s requirements.

Jenway have developed secure multi-user operation for the 67 series spectrophotometers to protect access to methods on instruments which are shared among multiple users. For maximum security, PIN codes can be allocated to designated individuals, groups or departments, and each method can be tagged Public, Read Only or Personal. In addition to the internal memory, removable SD or SD/USB memory cards give the flexibility to clone multiple instruments with the same settings, for example in a busy teaching laboratory, or to save and transfer ‘your spectrophotometer’ to another instrument or a PC.

Compatibility with the TrayCell and micro-cuvettes enables the determination of nucleic acid and protein concentrations in very small sample volumes, down to 0.7µl. The range of compatible accessories for the 67 series includes automated eight and water heated six-position cell holders, a peltier-controlled cuvette holder, programmable sipper pump, peltier sipper module and various passive sample holders.

Like the HPLC, GC and GCMS kits, the LCMS package consists of software driven protocols, Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and traceable reference standards.

Written on the advanced v-kit Pro platform, the software features report creation, summary reporting and audit trail, user/manager access rights. The electronic logbook function allows the data from the entire qualification exercise to be quickly and easily assembled into a single document for storage or distribution.

v-kit is manufactured by NLG Analytical, Cheshire, UK, and is used worldwide in labs working to GMP and/or subject to inspection from regulatory agencies such as FDA, MHRA. The kits can be provided for qualification by the user, or as part of service delivery by approved v-kit service partners.
