Andrew Block says he and his associates first saw the land at 1050 Freemont St. where Anthony Place Senior Apartments now stands, across from St. Patrick’s Church, in 2015. “We entered into an agreement with St.
Patrick’s Parish and then we met with the city,” Andy says. “We had to go through rezoning. We broke ground in June of 2017.” Why Yorkville for their senior apartments?
Andy says its because they saw a desperate need for a high quality, affordable senior living facility. And they loved the location, near the Jewel and across from the church. “We met with a lot of stakeholders, got their
feedback,” he says. Te result was age and income-restricted

apartments with one and two bedroom units that have large kitchens, walk-in closets, washer/ dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, ranges, patios or balconies, and carpets. Te building also houses a community room, exercise room, a library, computer room, a large outdoor patio with grill and lighted percola, and a walking path. “We built this project for people aged 55 and older who meet the income requirements and want to downsize,” Andy says. “If they are looking to transition into a smaller space that is affordable, this meets their needs.”

Cedarhurst of Yorkville, located at 1690 Cannonball Trail, a senior living community with assisted living and memory care services, is scheduled to open in December 2018, according to its executive director, Lynn Woods. Designed with seven different floor plans and care levels to meet the needs of each resident, the facility will offer residents home-made meals in a dining room, housekeeping services, weekly laundry, scheduled outings, and other extras like an on- site theater and a full-therapy gym. Personal care and medication services also are available
based on the needs of each resident. Lynn says all services will be personalized with input from the resident and family members.
