Te Educational Foundation www.yef115.org

Tis year has been a truly

transformational year for the Foundation. We set some challenging goals for ourselves. We are a self- funded foundation, which means that we require each of our Board members to donate at least $100 each year. I’m happy to say that we are 100% Board compliant. Earlier this year, we also invited the teachers and district administrators to be part of the Campaign for Yorkville 115 – a recurring paycheck donation program. So many of you here have signed up for this program and we want to thank you for your support.

We’ve also received several

generous donations from throughout the community. In total, we’ve had more than 50 donors this year, and we are forecasted to raise about $15,000 by the end of the school year. Tis year with your financial support, we

have been able to establish fiscal sustainability.

Prime, (above) took second place for their competition robot in regional competition put on by FIRST Robotics in March 2018 in Peoria. Te placement qualified them to participate in the world championship in Detroit in April 2018. Tracey Hosey, lead mentor for YHS Robotics, says the experience was “amazing.” Te high school has two robotics teams - the second is VEX. Applications to join either team are available at the beginning of each school year.

to do, for the first time, was to award more than $9,500 in grants. We were able to help fund scholarships for high schoolers SAT prep, buy a friendly loom at Grande Reserve, purchase books for the annual Battle of the Books between Bristol Grade and Yorkville Grade and funded a ramp system that helps Middle Schoolers understand the relationship of kinetic energy to the mass and speed of the object. We funded a grant for every school in the district, and we are already planning and looking forward to making it even bigger and better for next year. And finally we were able to host our inaugural Fostering Our Future Event which recognized 24 employees and district community members who display the qualities of an every day hero.
