Prospective employers can’t just arbitarily look at someone
and judge if they are physically capable of doing a job. Tat’s where Morris Hospital Yorkville Campus’
Occupational Medicine can help both the employer and future employee, according to Robert Alaimo, the hospital’s marketing liasion/occupational medicine sales representative. “We offer an entry level pre-employment process,” Robert
explains. “We are the only ones offering this here in Yorkville. We do pre-employment physicals as well as drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiology, vision, pulmonary fuction testing and injury care.” Prospective employees can benefit from testing by learning if
they have a previously unknown pre-existing condition. “Any obvious red flags will present themselves,” Robert
said. “Tey will be able to know if they are physically capable of performing the job. If there is a problem, we won’t tell the employer why the person isn’t fit for the job - that would be a violation of HIPPA. We tell the employer if the tests show the person met or did not meet the requirements.” Robert said pre-employment testing leads to a healthier workforce. “Tree per cent of the workforce will be
responsible for 80% of an employer’s work compensation costs, “ Robert explained. Located at 105 Saravanos Dr., on the southside
of the city, the intermediate care facility is open seven days a week. For drug testing or injuries, appointments are not needed.
