Te oldest church building in Kendall County, Chapel on the Green, now home of the Chapel on the Green Historical Society, is available for weddings, receptions, vow renewals, ceremonies, baptisms, funerals, reunions, musical concerts, and other special events.
Built in 1855 from
hand-hewn oak and walnut beams cut from woods along the Fox River, the Chapel features stained-glass windows,
an 1899 pipe organ, and recently renovated bride’s and groom’s rooms, and a lower level Friendship Hall with kitchen. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Chapel’s sanctuary seats 200 guests and is located one block west of Rt. 47 on the northeast corner of Church and Center streets, across from Yorkville’s Town Square Park. Howard Mathei, president of the Historical Society, says to aid brides in planning for their special day, the Chapel is collaborating with Hayley Hawkinson, owner of Hawkinson’s Events.
