EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACT IVI T I ES 2017 - 2018 Advanced Swim Coaching


These sessions are for swimmers who want to be part of our Squad and be pushed harder than our club sessions allow. They are run by Sharon Wheeler, Head Coach of Beacon Swimming Club. Girls can select from one to four sessions per week. These sessions are not for the faint-hearted and have helped girls improve enormously in all strokes, both in their technique and times.


For: Years 7 - 13 Led by:Ms Wheeler


Experience: Must be able to swim three strokes and be prepared to swim over distances of greater than 1000m.


Cost: Session 1: Monday 06:45 - 07:45 £60 per term Session 2 Tuesday 07:00 - 08:00 - £60 per term


Session 3 Tuesday 16:15 - 18:00 - £96 per term Session 4 Friday 16:15 - 18:00 - £96 per term


NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification)


This course is offered to Years 11 & 12 girls who are over-16 on the day of the assessment. We have also offered places to young people outside the School, if there are spare places.


The course is run by the RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) and is a nationally recognised qualification that enables girls to gain work experience (and income) while at School or University.


Due to the pressure on time at the end of the term we have moved the course to the final week of the School holidays in readiness for the new School year.


Once qualified, girls have the opportunity to lifeguard during PE lessons and on our Community Swimming Programme which takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings between 18:30 and 20:00.


Eligibility:Girls must be over 16 on the day of assessment. There are additional criteria such as swimming ability but all applications are discussed with Mrs Whitby as to suitability and girls are given the opportunity to have a ‘trial’ before committing themselves to the course.

For: Years 7 - 13 Led by:Miss Auer


Cost: Individual: £28 per lesson, Pair: £16 per lesson, Group: £14 per lesson.


(All year round) Before School and at lunchtime.
