EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACT IVI T I ES 2017 - 2018 MUSIC Individual Music Tuition
Individual lessons are available on all musical instruments and voice from beginner to Diploma level. Tuition is available in the following: bassoon, clarinet, double bass, flute, French horn, guitar (classical and electric), harp, keyboard, oboe, organ, percussion, pianoforte, recorders, saxophone, singing, trombone, trumpet, viola, violin and cello.
Associated Board, Trinity, and London College of Music examinations are available at the end of each term. Music examinations at higher grades attract UCAS points for university entrance. Musicians are encouraged to participate in many School concerts throughout the year and the Inter-House Music Competition.
Timetable:One 30 minute lesson per week between 08.30 and 18.00. Years 7 to 10 rotate out of academic lessons. Years 11 to 13 have a fixed time in study periods. There are 30 lessons per year. Girls are advised to do a minimum of 2½ hours practice per week.
Instruments may be hired from the School, subject to availability, with costs varying according to the instrument.
All extra-curricular music lessons will be charged in advance per term, per instrument. The price is based on the pupil having 30 half-hour lessons in the academic year; we will charge for 10 lessons per term. Please note: this does not necessarily mean that the pupil will have 10 lessons per term, as each term varies in length. Occasionally, a pupil may require more than 30 lessons in a year. At the end of each term we will reconcile the number of lessons and will apply a credit or an additional charge as required. Please contact the Director of Music if you are unwilling to pay for more than 30 lessons.
