THE WORKING GROUP

The working group established in 1999 consists of physiother- apists Seonaid Airth, Steven Mutch and Stuart Barton. The pro- gramme was initiated in response to a dramatic increase in regional groin pain identified in a professional rugby team in 1997-1999. Joanne Elphinston has been contributing to the content and delivery of the programme continually since the programme was initiated.

The data collection is ongoing and the results will hopefully be published in the near future. The prehabilitation programme has now been implemented in a number of other sports includ- ing hockey, snowboarding, tennis and swimming.

Clinical Exercise Practitioner Grade: Technical Instructor Grade I Salary: £18,307 - £22,121 + LA £2,775 pro rata (Awaiting A4C job evaluation) Base: Cross-Site

Hours: 18.75 hours per week

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our well-established Multidisciplinary Cardiac Rehab team for provision of phase III exercise for patients with a variety of cardiac conditions and co-existing pathologies. There are 18.75 hours of classes available but these are negotiable and job share would be considered.

The post involves pre-assessment exercise testing, risk stratification, providing individualised exercise programmes according to the patient’s needs and participation in evaluation and audit of exercise provision.

You will be expected to lead exercise decisions and show ability to motivate and encourage this complex group of patients and you will need to demonstrate the ability to work within a team. The programme covers Barnet, Edgware and Chase Farm hospitals.

If you have the relevant BACR training, the post will grade at a TI I level. If not, then the starting grade will be a TI II level.

You will need to be flexible to cover these programmes and a car user is essential. CPD is actively encouraged and appropriate training is enthusiastically supported.

The post is supported by Senior Physiotherapists and Clinicians, including a Clinical Specialist and an MSc trained Senior I.
