CHECK YOUR DIESEL TANKS Te US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that it has found that most underground diesel storage tanks suffer from moderate or severe corrosion, which could lead to tank failures and groundwater contamination if left unchecked. EPA says that 35 of the 42 tanks it inspected – 82 per cent – were affected, but that only 25 per cent of tank owners were aware of the corrosion. While the survey only covered a small number of installations, EPA is alerting tank owners to the potential problem and recommends that they investigate the condition of their tanks.
