CHEMICAL DISTRIBUTIONNEWS BULLETIN

NEW HEAD FOR FECC Elisa Setién has been named as the European Association of Chemical Distributors’ (Fecc) new director general. Formerly director general of the European Federation of Construction Chemicals (EFCC), Setién replaces Dr Uta Jensen-Korte, who has retired after six years at the helm. “As a Board Member and more recently

as president of Fecc, it has been a genuine pleasure to work with Uta,” says Fecc president Neville Prior. “Uta has displayed great technical knowledge as well as a strong empathy for all the people that she has worked with. Uta’s term of office will be remembered for taking Fecc forward with a renewed sense of purpose, as well as for her energy, enthusiasm and dedication. Te European chemical distribution sector owes her a debt of gratitude indeed.” “As Uta takes her well-earned retirement,

we welcome Elisa Setién to Fecc as the new director general,” Prior continues. “Elisa was chosen from a broad and strong field of candidates and I know she will bring energy to Fecc as well as a strong sense of direction for the future. Elisa will have the full support of the Board and its members to progress Fecc along its continuing journey as the voice of our industry.” A Spanish national and industrial engineer

by profession, Setién began her career at the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR), first in the Standardisation Division and afterwards at the International Cooperation Unit, where she was detached to manage EU-funded Technical Assistance projects in the field of the Free Movement of Goods (Quality Infrastructure). From 2008 onwards, she worked at EFCC, where she was responsible for the overall management of the Federation; representing the industry to the EU institutions as well as to internal and external stakeholders; and establishing EFCC as the voice of the construction chemical industry on key

IMCD BUYS IN AMERICA AND ASIA IMCD has acquired 100 per cent of shares in US-based Mutchler and its subsidiary Mutchler of Puerto Rico. Described by IMCD as “a leading specialty pharmaceutical

ingredient distributor in the US and Puerto Rico”, Mutchler last year generated revenues of around $28m. Maintaining offices in New Jersey and Puerto Rico and operating across all 50 US states, Mutchler, it says, “is an excellent fit with IMCD given [its] asset-light business model and long-term relationships with leading global suppliers”. In addition, the acquisition “supports the strategy of IMCD to become the leading global specialty chemicals distributor providing expertise and knowledge-based formulation solutions to its customers”. “Following the acquisition of MF Cachat

(now IMCD US) in June 2015, this is an important next step as it expands our US operations into the pharmaceutical market, a strategic sector for IMCD,” says Marcus Jordan, president of IMCD Holdings US. “Mutchler has a reputation as a leading pharmaceutical
