TALKE SELLS UP IN BENELUX German chemical logistics specialist Talke has sold its assets and operations in Belgium and the Netherlands to Antwerp-headquartered company Katoen Natie. Talke says the deal is part of a programme to optimise its location portfolio, which involves the divestment of subsidiaries that not longer fit its strategy. “We are pleased that in the Katoen Natie
Group we have found a renowned company whose strategic approach is so eminently suitable for the locations in Antwerp and Moerdijk,” says Alfred Talke, group managing director. “Tese provide the best conditions to ensure a smooth transfer of the daily business both for our customers and for the workforce.” Te companies involved in the deal are
Talke België NV, Talke Nederland BV and Zwijndrecht-based Alfred Talke Logistic Services NV. Te three companies have a
combined turnover in the region of €22m, employ around 100 people and have some 40,000 m2
of available warehousing space. Te takeover fits into the strategy of
Katoen Natie to further strengthen its position as a logistics service provider for the chemical industry in Europe, both by investing in new installations and by acquisitions. Te company says it is also looking for further expansion opportunities outside Europe in the area of storage and treatment of plastics. It has recently acquired an on-site activity in Colombia and has opened an on-site logistics platform in Mexico.

DOW SIGNS UP WITH RSA-TALKE RSA-Talke, the joint venture between Talke and local firm RSA Logistics, has signed a
major contract with Dow Chemical for the storage of chemicals at the logistics operator’s new complex at the Aerotropolis site in Dubai. Product will be sent to Dubai from Dow’s various production sites around the world. “Dow clearly sees the Middle East as a core
region in their total business model, whether for local production or as part of their global supply chain,” says Ihab Elia, associate director of logistics and international trade at Dow Middle East and Africa. “RSA-Talke will play an integral part in Dow’s growth story, as we progress and drive to ensure we work with world class service providers with the right focus on safety, value and quality.” “Te signing of this significant agreement with Dow has again confirmed the interest of our customers in our strategy of providing a full service portfolio for chemical logistics in Dubai,” explains Richard Heath, Director Middle East & USA at Talke and a director of RSA-Talke. Te recent inauguration of the large
container terminal for chemical goods in the Jebel Ali free zone rounds off RSA-Talke’s total concept. “With the integrated chemical hub, designed around tank container storage and complemented by associated services, we are proud to complete the picture as far as a full range of services is concerned,” says Abhishek Ajay Shay, managing director of RSA-Talke. “We can now handle liquids and solids, hazardous and non-hazardous, packaged or bulk to support chemical manufacturers in the whole of the Gulf region.”
