Reports MULTI-GAME MACHINES Multi-games: the

jack of all trades Multi-games machines dominated the exhibition stands of the major manufacturers at the ICE show. G3 talks to the segment’s main protagonists to get their views on why this type of product is more popular than ever

We wanted to learn more about a machine that is currently taking 30-40 per cent of gaming floors in markets around the world and is proving successful in a multitude of settings. So have brought together a panel of experts from Zitro, NOVOMATIC, APEX, AMATIC, Merkur Gaming, IGT and DLV, to answer our questions about the past, present and future of multi- games machine in the casino sector.

How much importance do you place on the menu/title screen and how significant is it to the success of the multi game?

Kubilay Ozer, Global Sales Director, APEX gaming:We provide a great range of games for our customers – such as table games, 3D games and fruit games. Tat is why we place them in separate categories so that they are all easy to find. For example, if a player wants to enjoy a 3D game, he or she can very quickly find our 3D games. Tis increases customer satisfaction.

Athanasios ‘Sakis’ Isaakidis: Chief Executive, International, Merkur Gaming: It is the first, and therefore the most important, thing that the player sees. We permanently develop and enhance the front screen as the primary attraction to the games that are available for player selection. Te screen itself has to be both ‘player friendly’ and, of course, attractive in respect of the gaming offer that it represents.

Tomas Engstberger, Sales Manager, AMATIC: Te title screen has always been important to the theme of AMATIC’s Multi Game. It is one of the first main impressions for the player at the

gaming machine and serves as a portal to the games. Te clearer the title screen appears, the easier it is for players to find the game they are looking for. Naturally, this has evolved with time, taking into account the technological progress. At AMATIC Industries, we always care to include state-of-the-art technology to ensure our Multi Game selection stands out on our gaming machines. Our games are easy to find as they are clearly categorised and we make use of the ‘swipe’ touchscreen technology.

Sebastian Salat, CEO, Zitro: At Zitro we believe that the menu is very important. It is essential that it suggests a diversity of experiences. You may want to compare it to the menu in a restaurant, it needs to be diverse and suggestive, it has to create appetite in order for the client to try out new things.

Mike Robinson, International Communications Manager, NOVOMATIC: Te menu screen is the first port of call at a multi-game terminal and crucial to give players quick access to their favourite games. NOVOMATIC structures its multi-game menus in a clear layout that segregates titles into native categories such as Classic Lines, Multi Lines, Power Lines, Fruit Games, Specials and New Games, as well as – most recently – Extra Bet Games. It allows players to very quickly find the games they already know or want to play and discover similar games within the same category. Tey may also want to play the latest games or try an alternative style, which can be effortlessly located in the menu.

Ken Bossingham, IGT Senior Vice President Casino Core Product:Te menu within a multi- game solution is paramount when evaluating the potential viability of a game bundle, and is one of many design elements that we closely refine before bringing a product to market. A player needs to be able to quickly identify the games within the multi-game offering through a highly intuitive, intelligent interface. With IGT’s diversity HD game suites, we have incorporated a spherical touch-screen menu comprised of iconic imagery from many of our most popular themes. Tis format makes it easy for a player to quickly recognise themes, scroll through favourite games and identify the most-played themes within the bundle.

Julia Barbakadze, External Relations Coordinator, DLV: In the visual aspect of a machine, as well as in its contents, every detail is important, be it the cabinet, graphics, title
