Who we are and what we do

Pati ent care is at the heart of what we do; the Care Quality Commission currently rates us as ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for care and end of life care. We provide hospital services to around 570,000 people living in Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and specialist services to pati ents from all over the country.

We deliver a full range of district hospital services in a variety of locati ons. Our acute services are provided from Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, and Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. We also off er an extensive range of services at Andover War Memorial Hospital, including surgery, elderly rehabilitati on and maternity care. In additi on to services delivered in our hospitals, we provide outpati ent and therapy services in community setti ngs and pati ents’ homes.

We also off er some specialist services. We are one of only two centres in the UK treati ng pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare abdominal cancer, and we are nati onal leaders in the surgical treatment of liver and colorectal cancer. We pioneered intraoperati ve radiotherapy for breast cancer and run a regional haemophilia networked service for Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex and Wiltshire.

We run private pati ent faciliti es in our Candover Clinic and Suite, which is managed by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundati on Trust. When pati ents use the Candover Clinic, they are investi ng in our NHS services to benefi t NHS pati ents, unlike most other private healthcare faciliti es.

We employ more than 6,000 staff and our turnover in 2017/18 was £390 million.
