The new Overton Unit opened at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The unit provides step-down care for pati ents awaiti ng a care package that will enable them to return home or requiring palliati ve care.


Six new governors were welcomed to the Trust. Keith Bunker, Eugene Edwards, Ruth Gower-Smith, Beverley Morgan, Daughne


Taylor and Keith Wiggans were elected by the Trust members for a three-year term.

The Trust’s work experience programme for young people was re-accredited as


gold standard. The Work Experience Quality Standard is a nati onal accreditati on that recognises those organisati ons off ering high quality work experience opportuniti es.

Kordo Saeed, consultant microbiologist, picked up two awards. His supporti ve and inspirati onal approach to mentoring saw him named Mentor/ Supervisor of the Year and he also won the fi nal award of the event, the Director of Medical Educati on Award.

The gynaecology and obstetrics department at Royal Hampshire County Hospital was among the


top 10 teams in the country for gynaecology surgery training. The


team was rated very highly by junior doctors, in response to a nati onwide survey about the quality of training they received while on placement.
