Our governors

Governors are representati ves of our members and play a vital role in ensuring the Trust is accountable directly to the membership and to the community.

We have 15 public governors, who are elected by the membership in their consti tuency. We have fi ve staff governors, elected by the staff groups they represent. We have three governors appointed from partner organisati ons and we have three appointed governors who represent older people, younger people and disabled people.

We held our most recent governor electi ons in November 2017 and welcomed new governors to our Council of Governors in January 2018. Governors serve a three-year term and can be re- elected.

Our governors help us develop services by taking part in a number of working groups:

• The Membership and Community Engagement Group looks at ways to engage members and reach new people.

• The Pati ent and Public Involvement in Research Group supports and promotes research in the Trust.

• The Pati ent Experience Group focuses specifi cally on pati ent care and makes visits to all our sites to see the quality of care being provided.

All of these groups feed back to the Council of Governors.

Council of Governors meeti ngs are held in public. Members and the public are welcome to att end and there is an opportunity to meet governors aft er the meeti ng.

Governor profi les and details of the Council of Governors can be found at www.hampshirehospitals.nhs.uk/governors
