Our local contributi on

As one of the largest employers in the area, we take our responsibility to the local community very seriously.

We work closely with our local community of schools, colleges and third sector partners such as the Prince’s Trust to provide work experience placements for local students, traineeship programmes (designed to provide the essenti al work preparati on needed to secure an apprenti ceship or employment) and apprenti ceships.

In 2017/18, requests for work experience conti nued to rise and the programme also retained its nati onal Gold Standard award. This recognises our passion to support our local communiti es, in parti cular our young unemployed groups, to move into meaningful work by providing their fi rst stepping stone.

We conti nue to support service leavers, reservists, veterans and their spouses through our military engagement programme, Step into Health. In recogniti on of our eff orts, we were awarded the presti gious Ministry of Defence Employers Recogniti on Gold Award, presented to us by Prince Harry.

We also provide work placements and employment opportuniti es for people with learning disabiliti es. We are proud to conti nue our work as the lead Trust for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on an initi ati ve to increase the employment of individuals with learning disabiliti es within our region and the wider NHS, working in partnership with NHS England.

Kicking off in the autumn of 2018 will be the roll out of a Health Educati on England (HEE) funded Learning Diffi culti es and Disabiliti es (LDD) internship programme at the Trust. This is a collaborati on between the Trust, HEE and our local council to provide 12-14 supported internship places across a wide variety of departments, giving people with LDD a real opportunity at gaining important work skills, hopefully leading to future employment.
