Special guest Karma brought along her human, Cynthia Smoot.

Lola’s Spooktacular Barkfest on the Beach was a howling suc- cess. Held on October 15 at the Hurricane Seafood Restaurant to benefit Pet Pal Animal Shelter, the deck was rockin’ with dogs and their humans. Karma, the Greyhound whose portrait graced the summer/fall issue of The New Barker, was signing paw-tographs. Fox 13’s Cynthia Smoot, who is Karma’s human, was on-hand to assist her dog. There were special treats for the dogs. Prizes for the costume contest winners. PetPalAnimalShelter.com

The 26th Annual SPCA Pet Walk was a day organizers and vendors all breathed a sigh of relief. Threatening rains and winds brought on by Hurricane Matthew never arrived. The day was sunny, breezy and pleasant on the waterfront at beautiful Vinoy Park. SPCATampaBay.org

Lexie, a Cairn Terrier, enjoyed the sun, sites and smells after her Pet Walk. 84 THE NEW BARKER
