LOVE MY OLDER DOG.
Consumer research giant Nielsen recently released information indicating the extent to which pets have become family members. Ninety-five percent of U.S.
pet owners consider their pet to be part of the family.
Forty-five percent of owners buy birthday presents for their pets.
While GenXers own the most pets, Millennials are most likely to dress their pets in clothing.
Senior dogs, like this Beagle at Humane Society of Pinellas, are helped through the Diamond Dog Club.

Age is just a number, and when it comes to dogs, Love My Dog Resort and Playground is on a mission to bring that point home. The Diamond Dog Club was created in August 2015 to help shel- ters adopt out more of their senior dogs. Older adoptable dogs are often over- looked at shelters for various reasons, including the death of an owner. Dogs who are older than seven, when adopted, are given an advanced health screening paid for by the Diamond Dog Program. The adoption includes a month of free daycare at one of the two St. Petersburg facilities of Love My Dog Resort, plus three waterpark visits and a grooming. Through a partnership with SPCA Tampa Bay, Humane Society of Pinellas and Friends of Strays, the Diamond Club program has adopted out more than 100 senior dogs since 2105.
