Gina Carter COMPÈRE

I help host food demonstrations in the marquees. It’s a very privileged position – being so close and watching

chefs change simple ingredients into stunning food. I like to be up to date with all that’s going on with the chefs so I have a couple of snippets of info to hand, particularly if they have just opened a new restaurant or received an

award. It’s the perfect job for me because I love talking! Every morning I like to walk around all the various local producers and chat with them whilst they’re setting up about what new products they have. I sample, graze, gulp and inhale all that there is to offer but it also means I can tell the public about them when I’m on stage.

OWNER OF THE DEVON MARQUEE COMPANY We have been providing marquees for the Food Festival pretty much since it started. We bring 40 tonnes of equipment and it takes a team of eight people five days to get all the marquees up. We come from Chagford and have to make a couple of trips back to base during the week. It’s one of our trickier projects as the venues are spread out across the town and we have to work around all the visitors but it’s good fun - I definitely enjoy grazing my way around all the stalls!

Ben Coley THE PIG APPLE

This will be our second visit to the Food Festival and we’re really looking forward to it. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase West Country food in a lovely environment and make a bit of a

name for ourselves. We’ve only been going a couple of years and getting onto the list of exhibitors at the festival was one of our first ambitions. We attend all kinds of events from weddings to

street parties and do brisket burgers, pig roasts and smoked pork shoulder but there could be a few surprising ingredients on the menu for this year’s festival! Find us in the Royal avenue Gardens.

FESTIVAL PARKING & LOGISTICS CO-ORDINATOR I liaise with councils to manage all traffic and parking issues during the festival such as road closures, parking for traders and visitors’ access to the Park and Ride. On the days themselves I’m up at 6am often standing in a freezing car park directing traffic in a fluorescent jacket! I really do enjoy the general camaraderie and positivity that surrounds the festival which makes being a part of it very rewarding - the food is pretty good too!
