EVENTS DURING DARTMOUTH GALLERIES FESTIVAL Saturday 22nd October


Friday 14th October from 6-9pm OPENING NIGHT FOR THE NEW EXHIBITIONS


Follow the trail map to visit the galleries previews of their new exhibitions. Every gallery will have been transformed in the days leading up to this date to show all new work from a mix of artists and makers. Some will be well established and others will be up and coming new talent. It’s a great evening with a fantastic atmosphere and you can enjoy the beauty of Dartmouth while you stroll along the streets between the galleries.

There will be round images hung around Dartmouth. They are numbered and any artists you can identify should be marked down with where you found it. Hand a list into the Simon Drew Gallery and the person finding most will win a Simon Drew original. NB More may be added as time goes by.

ART TASTING From 10am to 1pm all the galleries will be offering drinks and nibbles from local producers to coincide with Dartmouth Food Festival. Taste a bit of food and taste the style of work in each gallery.


Richard will be in Artmill ii gallery in Anzac Street painting in water colours between 11am to 1pm and then 2pm to 4pm. Come and talk to him about his technique and watch a painting a progress.

CREATE YOUR OWN “MASTERPIECE” Easels will pop-up around Dartmouth with pens and paper attached so you can draw a Dartmouth view or whatever takes your imagination.

THE FLAVEL ARTS CENTRE FEATURE EXHIBITION A selection of the galleries will be showing pieces from their new exhibitions to give a taste of what you can expect to see if you follow the festival trail map. The work will be for sale and will show the diversity of art available in the town’s galleries.

PAINTING IN A DAY The artist Helena Clews will be painting a canvas in a day between 11am-3pm at Browns Hill Arts. Come along to see the new exhibition Shoreline and see the artist at work.

FREE ART FRIDAY The galleries will be placing pieces of artwork in various places around the town for members of the public to find, take home and enjoy free of charge! Look at facebook (Dartmouth Galleries Festival) for photographic clues as to where you might find them.


Triton Galleries


Two artists inspired by the natural world talk about their creative experiences. Jennie Hale: illustrator, teacher, hillwalker, mountaineer and sea kayaker, talks about her passion for art, ceramics and the environment. Her extraordinary expeditions feed her art work. Sarah Gillespie speaks about her life as an artist – drawing, her move away from colour, the contemporary art scene and the importance of poetry, nature and solitude to her working life. You will also be able to view work by Sarah Gillespie and Jennie Hale, our speakers on October 26th.

LINO-CUT DEMONSTRATION Meet Jan Brewerton at Baxters in Foss Street between 11am and 1pm when she will be demonstrating her linocut technique.
