With cranes in its skyline, the city of Washington, DC is evolv- ing to welcome and wow visitors like never before. Here is a look at some of what's new in the nation's capital.
The Marriott Marquis Washington, DC opened on May 1, 2014. This much anticipated property offers 1,175 rooms, including 49 suites and more than 105,000-square feet of function space for meetings and events. Connected via underground concourse to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the Marriott Marquis is conveniently locat- ed to Penn Quarter, CityCenterDC and the Verizon Center. Property highlights include 55 breakout rooms plus retail and restaurant space.
Cambria Suites Hotel at CityMarket at O celebrated its official grand opening in August 2014. Located just a few blocks north of the convention center and the Penn Quarter/ Chinatown neighborhood, the hotel offers 182 all-suite rooms, a rooftop swimming pool and a terrace with city views.
The Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC - Georgetown Area opened in May 2014 just blocks from two metro stations and within walking distance to Georgetown attractions. This prop- erty features 238 guestrooms, a heated rooftop swimming pool, garden terrace, complimentary 24-hour fitness center and an on-site bistro.
Hyatt Place Washington DC - US Capitol, which opened in June 2014, is a 14-story hotel in the fast-growing NoMa neighborhood. It boasts 200 oversized guestrooms, an out- door rooftop swimming pool, complimentary hot breakfast, 24-hour StayFit gym and views of the Capitol building and other DC landmarks.
Meanwhile, Trump International Hotel, The Old Post Office, Washington, DC is scheduled to open in 2016. Announced in September 2013, Trump Hotel Collection was tapped by the GSO to redevelop the iconic Old Post Office building. Following a $200 million redevelopment beginning in 2014, the hotel will feature 270 guestrooms, meeting and event space, a 4,000-square foot Mar-a-Lago Spa along with world-class restaurants.
