Beaux-Arts architecture of the building itself - beautiful. The fully operating antique Dentzel Carousel makes for fun party shots, and it can also be included as an attraction for guests to ride.”
Harrison notes that another favorite attraction for group events served by Brûlée Catering's is the Cruiser Olympia, theworld’s oldest floating steelwarship. “It is the only surviving naval ship from the Spanish-American War. Beautifully pre- served, it plays host to above deck or below deck events.”
The top deck of the Cruiser Olympia func- tions as a built-in stage for live entertain- ment or as a presentation platform. “Having a party aboard a historic floating vessel in itself is definitely unique," says Harrison. "Guests can mingle above deck or below deck with sweeping waterfront and city views. It features antique details throughout along with 19th century woodwork.”
Also available through Brûlée Catering is the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center, an expansive tennis facility that transforms both its indoor and outdoor courts into a huge event space. Included are a courtyard, indoor tennis courts,mez- zanine, lounge and conference room, as well as a library, classroom, commissary and yoga studio.
"It is ideal for hosting youth organizations, corporate functions or team building retreats,” notes Harrison, “with endless opportunity to incorporate a wellness component or element of action into such events.”
Of course groups looking for an iconic attraction in Philadelphia cannot forget the National Constitution Center, a sure choice for a planner looking to infuse the history of the city into their group event.
“Set in an unparalleled location in the heart of Historic Philadelphia, the
National Constitution Center’s versatile, unique spaces are ideal for a wide variety of events and occasions, from business meetings to military commissioning cere- monies to corporate parties, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, and more,” observes Harrison. “It offers nine unique spaces in which to host an event, ranging from small and intimate conference rooms to the Grand Hall Overlook that features a 60-foot high ceiling and sweeping win- dows looking out onto Independence Mall.”
During private events at the National Constitution Center, clients have the opportunity to access its world-class museum and exhibitions, including the award-winning theatrical performance Freedom Rising, which tells the story of the U.S. Constitution from 1787 through present day, and Signers’Hall, which fea- tures 42 life-size, bronze statues of the Founding Fathers, including Ben Franklin and GeorgeWashington.
