celebrates the innovation thatmakes space travel possible (on loan from the Smith- sonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and supported by DuPont). Opening December 5 will be Books of Secrets: Writing and Reading Alchemy, which explores the centrality of the written word in alchemical practice through CHF’s late medieval manuscripts, paintings, and early printed books.

In addition to such exhibits, The Confer- ence Center at CHF hosts First Fridays every month with lectures and activities. Marrocco says that the main benefits of hosting a group at an attraction like CHF - in addition to it being a fun and unique venue - are themany customizable options available and museum's skilled staff.

“We offer additional services that planners will not usually find at other venues," notes Marrocco,"including: seven caterers with whom to work, and each offering different styles, flavors and price points; plus a staff dedicated to assist planners with not only the internal logistics, but also menu plan- ning, transportation, hotels and off site activities. We are an amazing group of highly-dedicated people with one goal in mind: you and your guests’ complete satis- faction.”

Also in Center City Philadelphia, the Academy of Music and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts together provide some really unique options for group func- tions. “Completed in 1857, the Academy of Music is a 2,900-seat house that is both a historic landmark and a contemporary concert hall in which to celebrate the cul- tural life of the city,” says Casey Rodger, director of facility sales and independent presentations for the Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music.“Recent renovations include a major backstage modernization, which will accommodate some of the largest shows Broadway has to offer.”

“TheAcademy ofMusic Ballroomushers in a return to traditional elegance and gra- cious entertaining in a landmark setting overlooking the Avenue of the Arts. Shimmering chandeliers and hand-gilded walls create an oasis of refined luxury, a classic setting for weddings, holiday par- ties, corporate receptions and celebra- tions,” observes Rodger.
