Dox-a-Palooza 8 was held November 2 this year at the SUN 'n FUN Campus – Pavilion in Lakeland. The annual fundraiser is hosted by Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education (DARE) with 100% percent of the proceeds going straight to the non- profit rescue. The event invited breeds of all types but most importantly in attendance were Dachshunds in every size, color and coat. The dogs were able to participate in multiple contests, including costume, lick a lot, homecoming king and queen and of course our favorite – the wiener races. New this year, Dachshund Riesling Wine and Moosehead Lager sponsored free wine and beer for guests. Although the day started off with rain, Doxie lovers came out to support DARE regardless of the weather. The annual event continues to grow each year and DARE wants to send a special thank you to its sponsors and vol- unteers. Be sure to mark your calendar for Dox-a-Palooza 2014, held the first Saturday in November.
