Then I’ll feed the dogs, sit back and open my day with Good Morning America, followed by rip roaring laughter from reruns of Frasier. All the while my cur- rent works are staring me in the face. I keep them in view so I can contemplate any changes or additions. My mind is never fully distracted from my current work or future ideas.

A DAY IN MY LIFE, PAINTING, is in the living
room at my easel or pool-side with a huge toolbox full of pastels or acrylic paint. I’ve sketched my sub- ject on paper or canvas and begin to stare at the ref- erence until I get a feeling or style direction. If the client doesn’t have a preference of color or style, I let the subject speak to me and just go with it, staying true to whatever I feel is right. I get obsessed when I start and can’t stop until I feel I’ve achieved some- thing tangible for the day or at least conquered what- ever is challenging me. I can stand at my easel for eight hours and not even know the day has passed me by. My breaks are short and few. Being an artist is much more than just painting at an easel. Once I’ve left my easel for the day, my night is just beginning. I spend one to two sleepless nights in front of the computer networking and marketing online, updat- ing databases, websites and online stores, bookkeep- ing and answering inquiries, on top of more matting, framing and packaging. I’m a one-man band. I’M AN OPEN BOOK. I’d have to say I’m a bit
(well…a lot) obsessive about my work and I experi- ence self-doubt, but appear very confident. I’d like to meet Francoise Nielly, Martiros Manoukian and Marius Markowski. Each paint figures and have an extraordinary eye for color, contrast and compliment, shape and design. Their work and stroke is so freeing to me. I’ve never had a passion for painting portraits the way they express theirs. I’m fascinated by people who can paint so uniquely. U
