Miranda Lambert Grants the Wish Of A Young Florida Animal Advocate.

Six-year-old Riley Weinberger loves to volunteer at Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Wellington. When she heard Country singer Miranda Lambert would be performing at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in September she had an idea. Hoping to attract the attention of Miranda, and to “save a lot of dogs’ lives” as she put it, Riley created a video and posted it to YouTube. Knowing what a big animal advocate Miranda is, Riley sweetly asked the star to visit Big Dog Ranch Rescue. She also did radio and television interviews, and a family friend put up billboards on Interstate 95, hoping Lambert’s tour bus would see them. The efforts paid off big time for Riley, a Palm Beach Gardens resident and student at The Benjamin School. Not only did Miranda visit Big Dog Ranch Rescue, she also adopted a puppy, and named the dog Bellamy, after Florida’s own Bellamy Brothers. Then she posted to her more than 6,000,000 fans on
Facebook, “I visited Big Dog Ranch Rescue today in West Palm Beach. Amazing place and great people helping so many dogs in need.” Visit Big Dog Ranch Rescue at

Thank You, APSCO Appliance.
Earlier in 2013, the SPCA Suncoast in New Port Richey sent out an SOS. Their washer and dryer both broke down. Inoperable and unfixable, the shelter was in dire need of replacements, asking anyone to donate a used, working appliance. Several years ago, through one of our photographers,
Danette Morse, we were introduced to the kindness and generosity of Al Greco, owner of APSCO Appliance Centers. At the time, he was helping to support the efforts of Pam Borres, who was opening up SPOT, the low cost spay/neuter clinic in Pinellas Park. The New Barker contacted Mr. Greco’s office, and he
took our phone call. Not only would he donate a brand new washer and dryer, he would have it delivered within 48 hours. So, please, if you’re looking to purchase any household appliances, visit APSCO Appliance Centers at one of their four Bay Area locations.
