Residents in south Bristol have been getting back into the swim at Jubilee Swimming Pool after it reopened its doors in early October. The reopening followed a £300,000 city council investment and makeover.
Roof repairs, extensive maintenance works, a new reception area, improved changing facilities, refurbished pool, upgraded showers and lighting, carpeted seating areas and fresh internal and external painting and redecorating throughout were all part of the makeover. In addition the facility also boasted a new, 15- station gym suite.
Parkwood Community Leisure, managers of Hengrove Park Leisure Centre – the city’s flagship sports facility, will also manage and operate the newly refurbished site. A busy programme of open, public swim sessions, lane swimming, swimming for the over 50s, moonlight swims and swimming lessons for young learners is already in place.

REFURBISHED JUBILEE POOL REOPENS

£9M YORK SPORT VILLAGE FACILITY CHOOSES F T LEISURE
F T Leisure has recently finished a major project at the York Sport Village, a new £9m sports facility which is open to the University of York students, university staff and the public.
The company was appointed to design, supply, install and commission the swimming pool water treatment and filtration systems for a 25-metre eight-lane competition-standard swimming pool, a separate 18-metre learner pool and a spa pool.
The contract was awarded to F T Leisure through the principal contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine, with whom F T has previously worked on a number of high profile projects. The value of the
F T Leisure contract was approximately £320,000 and the design and installation ran over a 12 month period.
The filtration system is based on medium sand filtration with standard but highly effective pool water treatment processes including disinfection, pH control, flocculation and UV sterilisation. F T Leisure specialises in the provision of innovative products and professional technical services to the commercial, municipal and private swimming pool industries. Recent projects include the Orford Jubilee Hub in Warrington and the Six Senses Spa at Pan Peninsula in Canary Wharf.
