The London Olympic Park’s Aquatics Centre – an exceptional BARRISOL® project created by architect Zaha Hadid
waterproof providing a vapour barrier that protects the steelwork and roofing materials behind the membrane in the void. Extreme noise is something no one really wants in the pool area and all of the companies mentioned have also addressed this aspect within their systems.
AWARD WINNING BARRISOL SETS THE STANDARDS
Probably the longest standing company involved in stretch ceilings is BARRISOL® who has been combining technical ability with aesthetics to cover walls and ceilings expertly for over 45 years. BARRISOL® NORMALU® SAS Group, to use their full title, have what they say is an ‘enormous’ amount of ideas and innovations to create some of the most visually stunning installations throughout the world.
Offering over 20 ceiling systems from full murals to amazing eye popping 3D. BARRISOL® also provide the choice of over 230 colours and 15 finishes including metal, suede, high gloss and translucent which can be brought together to emphasise a particular theme and enhance any
wet leisure facility. The large number of profiles and membranes are a dream for architects, designers and decorators as they are completely adaptable and are regularly used in both new builds and restoration of public and private swimming pools and wet leisure facilities. The brand is available in 145 countries through 1,200 approved partners and carries 50+ patents. BARRISOL® is the proud recipient of more than 30 international awards for high quality materials and service. All BARRISOL® products and systems are in line with CE Certification and are environmentally respectful.
Acoustics are also a vital element in BARRISOL® materials and through the micro- perforated membranes, sounds are absorbed and noise pollution and resonance greatly reduced. To complete the overall effect BARRISOL® systems can be illuminated by the introduction of Colour® Light which intensifies and varies the lighting to change the mood with a spectrum of colour. It is also possible to personalise a ceiling with particular favourite photographs or design by implementing the
BARRISOL® ‘Print Your Mind System’ that prints the image directly on to the membrane. • The characteristics of the system are derived from the BARRISOL® sheet: a co-polymer material guaranteed to be lead free.
• The product is 100% recyclable and conforms to the following regulations: It is designated Bd B-S2-d0 and B-S3-d0 (brushed suede) in Europe and CLASS ‘O’ under Building Regulation in the UK.
• BARRISOL® is rated Class I in the USA within the requirements of the ASTM E84 Flame Spread Test.
• This effort to protect the environment is critically important when you consider that more than 1 million square metres of stretch ceilings are installed throughout the world each year.
• Moreover, BARRISOL® Normalu’s manufacturing process does not require the use of water, which allows it to help conserve this vital, natural resource. In the production of sheets, no CFCs or HCHCs are emitted and no cadmium is used in the manufacturing process.
