PoolEnclosures OCT 2012 SPN

Arch Enclosures have five different structural arch designs which include breakthrough aesthetic design features

The twin problems of a run of poor summers in the UK and concern of owners keeping their swimming pools completely safe have worked in favour of the pool enclosure market which continues to see a flurry of new products, new ranges and most importantly new sales

T

wo of the biggest bad news stories of 2012 have ended up being good news for those who are in the business of selling pool enclosures.

Yet another awful British summer has ended with owners wanting to find a way of making better use of their pools. And the worrying trend of more pool related accidents has highlighted one of the most important themes of a pool enclosure – how safe it makes the pool and its surrounds.

The business of pool enclosures has been growing significantly in recent years and it has

been suggested these two trends, along with pool owners wanting to guarantee value for money from greater use of their pools, will secure long term prosperity for the enclosures market and that within a few years 70% of all outdoor pools in the UK could have a pool enclosure over them.

It’s significant in what has been a growing market over the past three or four years that new products, new ranges and new models have been available this year.

A pool enclosure of whatever size, shape and cost is a natural cost effective solution whether it

is for a low level enclosure over a domestic pool, a larger investment of a retractable cover for domestic use or a larger scale commercial option for a school or hotel, club or holiday park. Specialist enclosure companies say the market continues to grow steadily. Last year saw sales higher than the previous year – although more were concentrated at the top end of the market. Enquiries it seems are still based on better quality than quantity which is what the industry is looking for.

At the top of the market there’s the commercial pool, the school or community
