Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment


(QDV44286) This is the TAQA Award (Teaching, Assessment, Quality Assurance), for those who assess candidates work for Awarding Bodies, or who want another qualifi cation. This Award focuses on assessment and assessment theories which will enable you to learn about the different formats of assessment in a vocational fi eld. Level 4 Certifi cate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages


(CELTA) (QDV44296) CELTA is the initial qualifi cation to become an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) teacher either in Further Education, community settings or private language schools in the UK or overseas. The course is aimed at people who would like to teach ESOL but have no or little experience of teaching it. The course is also suitable for experienced teachers of other subjects who would like to retrain in this specialist fi eld. Teaching is through lectures, seminars, workshops, discussion, pair and group work, video and computers, practical teaching and classroom observations of experienced ESOL teachers. Entry requirements: You must be at least 20 years old, be educated to at least university entrance standard, (A Level or equivalent) and have a high level of competence in English, both written and spoken. Successful applicants are invited to an interview and need to pass a language awareness test. Possible next steps: PGCE or DTE(e)LLS.


Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the LifeLong Learning Sector (PTLLS)


(QDV60079) The purpose of the qualifi cation is to provide an introduction to teaching adult learning, for all new entrants to the sector. The aim is to equip new teachers with the practical skills and knowledge they need to perform their role and allow them to enter the QTLS (Qualifi ed Teacher, Learning and Skills) framework. Entry requirements: English and Maths at level 2. Possible next steps: PGCE, DTLLS or Certifi cate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). Length of course (weeks): 10 Hours per week: 4
