Students take part in the Host-Borough Festival of Sport

HCC’s students in the Games Opening and Closing Ceremony

Whether you’re reading this before, during or after The Games, here are just some of the fantastic things we’ve been involved in.

• Our campus is so amazing, it was the principal training venue for the 70,000 Olympic volunteers, the Games Makers.

• Many students were involved in building the stadium! • Our performing arts students are performing at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies!

• Lots of our students volunteered in the lead up to and at The Games.

• Many have paid work during the Games – in roles such as sport and performance, event management, electrical engineering, security, hospitality and catering and more!

• Hackney is host to the International Press and Media centre during the Games – and our students got involved in helping to send reports of the Games across the world!

• Students have benefi ted from presentations from athletes, caterers and other people involved in the Olympics.

• Students visited the Olympic Park and took part in activities, discussion and debates.

• Catering students went to Canada to volunteer at the Vancouver Winter Games.

• We re-wrote our student code of conduct and themed Student Awards around the Olympic and Paralympic values.

200 Days to Go challenge

• Hospitality students worked at the Olympic Park and training camps in London during the Games, serving the public, VIPs and athletes.

• Students took part in host-borough festival of sports • HCC Art, Design, Media and Fashion students have produced amazing artwork for the volunteer training venues!
