This is an exciting joint venture with Circus Space who are the leading centre of excellence in Britain’s contemporary circus arts.
Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in
Performing Arts (SPS30234) This is initially a one-year course that provides an opportunity to develop real work skills in dance, acting and musical theatre, so that you can move on to a higher level qualifi cation in this area or into the performing arts professions. Held on the Shoreditch Campus with top facilities, tutors and practising artists, it covers a broad range of musical theatre, acting and dance skills, delivered through workshop and studio teaching. At the successful completion of the year, you have the opportunity to progress from the Subsidiary Diploma to the full Diploma in year 2. Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, or BTEC Level 2 (merit); plus an audition and interview. Possible next steps: Foundation Degree, or employment. Length of course (weeks): 36 (10 hours per week)
Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Performing
Arts: Circus Skills (SPS12312) This exciting new two-year course provides an opportunity to develop real work skills in circus skills and performance, so that you can move on to a higher level qualifi cation in this area or into the performing arts professions. The course covers a range of specialist circus disciplines including circus acrobatics, circus aerial, circus equilibristics and circus manipulation. You’ll also study and practice wider performing arts in performing to an audience, developing physical theatre, performing arts business, developing movement skills, the healthy performer and movement in performance, in year 2. At the successful completion of the year, you have the opportunity to progress from the Subsidiary Diploma to the full Diploma in year 2. Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, or BTEC Level 2 Diploma (merit); plus an audition and interview. Possible next steps: Foundation Degree, Degree or employment. Length of course (weeks): 72 (2 years) 10 hours per week
